Ever wondered what ‘Climate Justice’ actually means? Do you want to deepen your understanding and know how you can make a difference?
UKYCC’s Community Working Group have developed a fun, interactive workshop for ages 14 – 18. It is perfect for schools and youth groups wanting to better the understanding of young people and empower them to take action! v tailor the workshop for each group of young people, using relevant local examples to help illustrate the core issues behind Climate Justice
What is included?
Covering three thematic areas:
- What is Climate Justice? An introduction to the key concepts of Climate Justice, with a focus on the disproportionate impact of climate change on people both across the UK and overseas. This is tailored to your group and locality, using examples that will resonate with learners and connect them to the discussion.
- How to cope with feelings that arise around climate change. As well as providing the knowledge, we talk to learners about how the climate crisis can make us feel, particularly the feelings of overwhelm or anxiousness. We help young people to begin navigating these emotions, highlighting how valid and perfectly normal it is to react in this way!
- How to plan a campaign! Finally we equip learners with the skills and tools to plan their campaigns, to tackle Climate Justice in their local areas. Through interactive exercises, we demonstrate how to make a local impact and create a ripple effect, whether this is at school or other parts of your community – such as local councils, youth clubs, or grassroots organisations.
